Rare 1940s Dutch Ashtray, dated 1948.

 

Square metal Art Deco flat-edged ashtray with hammer blow decoration and three slots. On the spot of the fourth slot is a cartouche designed by Chris van de Hoef ((1875- 1933): Two stylized men with the backs against each other. With their arm outstretched, they hold the letters "A.N.M.B." (General Dutch Metalworkers Association) over the head. At their feet stands between leaves "loyalty to the union " and aside the year 1948. At the bottom is the text " Sola factory Zeist " engraved.
